3 Last Minute Ham Glaze Recipes
All of these options are 3 ingredients or less for emergency glaze ease! BUT - if you're planning ahead, we recommend grabbing a Cannings Christmas Glaze with your order (easiest option and, we think, the most delicious), or spicing these up a bit with other ingredients like pineapple or orange juice, cloves, ginger, etc.
Option 1: Marmalade (and other fruit preserves)
The most important element of a ham glaze is sweetness, as this is what creates that signature caramelisation on the fat of the ham. This is why marmalade makes such a great single ingredient glaze in a pinch! We're also big fans of our pineapple chutney as a glaze, although this is a bit chunkier. If you like, you can mix this with a bit of brown sugar and orange juice to give it some extra dimension.
Option 2: Honey Mustard Glaze
This one is a classic flavour pairing for ham, plus a super easy combo that most people will have in their pantry. Combine 3/4 cup Dijon mustard with 1/3 cup runny honey and slather all over your ham before baking!
Option 3: Brown Sugar Ginger Ale Glaze
If you've got some ginger ale on-hand for Christmas cocktails, you can use it to make a great last minute glaze. Mix 1 cup of ginger ale, 2 tbsp Dijon mustard and 1/2 cup of brown sugar and reduce to a more syrupy consistency on the stove, then brush all over your ham and bake.
